How do we Benchmark Buildings?

By benchmarking your building in Energy Star you can determine your Energy Use Index (EUI) and weather normalized energy use intensity. This tells you how efficient your building is running compared to others of similar type and size. We also show the score and rating as well as a plan to become more energy effecient. Every year all buildings over 50,000 sq.ft. in Montgomery county Maryland and Washington DC have to benchmark their building in Energy Star. Every 3 years they must also have a Professional Engineer verify the record.
